If you do not want the order to ship before a specific date, please mark your order "DO NOT SHIP BEFORE (date)". Peak season may require an additional seven to ten working days. Customer Service will quote you a ship date once the purchase order has been received, cleared by credit, and verified for accuracy.

Printing, screens and colors

How many inks and product colors a run can carry, what a second ink costs, and how much quantity each one takes.

How many ink colors can I print?

Every piece carries one ink. We do not print two-color imprints. A second ink means we stop partway through the run and change the ink, so some of your pieces come out in one color and the rest in another. A single product color can be split across both: 60 royal koolies in red and 40 in white is two runs off screens the order has already bought.

There is no cap on how many ink changes an order carries. Each one needs quantity behind it, and after the first 4 each change also costs $30.00. We stock 14 ink colors.

What does a second ink cost?

It costs quantity before it costs money. A screen prints one design in one ink. Your order comes with one screen, and every screen after it takes 100 more pieces of the design that needs it. So a 100-piece run prints one ink, and 200 pieces of that same design opens up a second.

The first 4 ink changes on a design are bought with quantity alone. Every change after that still takes the quantity and adds $30.00.

The quantity has to be pieces of that design. 200 stadium cups cannot buy a second ink for a koolie design the cups are not carrying.

Can I run more than one design on the same order?

Yes, as many as you like. The order comes with one screen, and each design after that buys its own with 100 pieces.

A design that runs on more than one item pools its pieces, so the same logo on 100 koolies and 100 cups is one design with 200 behind it, which is also enough to give it a second ink.

How many product colors can I have?

There is no limit on the number of colors. The only thing that limits it is quantity, because we print in blocks of 20 pieces per color. We set the press up once, so printing twenty is barely more work than printing one. That means 100 pieces can cover up to 5 colors, and 500 pieces can cover 25.

If the split does not divide evenly, the extra pieces go to the first color. An order of 150 in three colors comes out as 60, 40 and 50.

Do etched and sublimated items work the same way?

No, and they cost less because of it. Surface etching and full-color sublimation use no screens and no inks, so you can put as many designs on an etched or sublimated item as you like at no extra charge.

They also split by the case of blanks rather than in blocks of 20, because we do not want to break open a case: on a tumbler that comes 24 to a case, 24 pieces is one color and 48 is two.

Their quantity does not count toward a screen-printed item, and a screen-printed item's quantity does not count toward theirs.

What is the setup charge?

$40.00, once for the whole order. It is not charged per screen or per design, and there is no separate screen charge on top of it.

It is charged unless every design on the order is already on file with us. An exact reorder of artwork we are holding carries no setup at all. A stock art design counts as new the first time we lay it out, and is on file from then on.

Artwork guidelines

Please follow these when preparing and submitting artwork. Getting this right is the single biggest thing that keeps an order on schedule.

When is artwork considered ready to print?

Artwork is considered ready when it can be used for printing without the need for adjustments.

Our art department emails a PDF proof for all orders, including reorders, and production cannot proceed without official approval. To avoid delays, please respond with an approval or a request for changes as soon as possible.

Templates and layout instructions are available for all products. Email us for a product template.

Single-color foam, fabric, coasters and glass

Please provide vector artwork, one color (black only), with all text converted to outlines. Acceptable formats are Adobe Illustrator (.ai) and .eps.

Files with low-resolution raster images placed inside, or photos simply saved as .ai, .eps or .pdf, are not acceptable.

Multicolor [PC] fabric products and coasters

It is particularly important that artwork for multicolor products and coasters is prepared to template specification. Wherever possible, send vector artwork with all text converted to outlines: Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or .eps.

Raster and continuous-tone images or photographs are accepted provided the art conforms to the product template and the resolution is at least 300 DPI at full print size. Multi-layered, unflattened Photoshop (.psd) files are preferred, but .jpg, .tif, .png and .gif are also acceptable.

Adjustments made to art that has not been prepared to the proper requirements may incur added fees or cause delays.

I do not have artwork. Can you help?

Yes. Browse our stock art library, which covers beach, nautical, sea life, great outdoors and wedding designs. Pick one, add your own text, and we will lay it out for you at no extra charge.
